Flexible Edits: Smart Filter & Adjustment Layer
1. Rust; 5/5/2011, 8:28 pm; Rexburg, Idaho; f/5.3; 1/13 sec, Nikon D3100; + saturation, + contrast
First I copied the image layer, then converted it into a smart object. I used the poster edges filter. On the mask, I brought back some of the background. Last I added a vignette.
2. Blue; 5/5/2011, 8:25 pm; Rexburg, Idaho, f/5.3; 1/8 sec; Nikon D3100; + saturation, + contrast
I used an adjustment layer to desaturated the image, then used the mask to bring back the color in the first two flowers. Last, I added a vignette through filter-lens correction.

Sarah, you have some really great floral shots! I love the way you composed the shots to make obvious focal points. I especially like the way you edited Blue. Desaturating the flowers in the background is a cool way to control what the viewers focus on. Usually I'm happy if I get the background blurred, but desaturating goes even further. Great job!
ReplyDeleteFantastic shots and editing both with your floral and fauna. “You did an awesome job both with bring out the colors with “Violet” and “Red”! I really enjoy, “Eye of the Goat”, you did a good job capturing the goat and editing it, the slight vignette is a great touch. The “Proud Flamingo” is also a great piece, how you were able to capture all of the birds together and the editing you were able to do. I think my favorite of all of the pictures is “Blue”. I really like the editing you did and bringing out the blues on all of the flowers! Awesome job with all of your pictures!
