For the first photo, I made a partial cutout by first, selecting with the rectangle marquee, then filling with white, and put it in a new layer. I made a selection with the quick selection tool, then refined the edges. Last, I moved the selection to the top layer. For the entire cutout, I used the quick selection tool, then refined the edges and pasted onto a new background.
